How big is Pluto compared to the Earth?  Here is a comparison photo:

As it turns out, Pluto is actually smaller than our moon.
The moon is about 3.34 grams per cubic cm, while
Pluto 2.03 grams per cubic cm.  Keep in mind the density
of water ice would be about 1 gram per cubic cm.

This is meant to portray the view from the surface of Pluto.   The large body immediately in front is meant to be Charon, Pluto's largest moon and further away is another body that at the time was new to science and had no name.   In fact, Charon is probably a bit larger in the sky than this image demonstrates.  The two bodies rotate around a common center of gravity while the 2 other bodies, Nix and Hydra,  rotate around them.

Heres an interesting rendering. It shows the moons of Pluto, especially Charon as seen from the surface of Pluto.

This is one of the best ever pictures of pluto and it's "moon" system. It was taken by the Hubble Space Telescope and clearly shows Pluto, Charon, Nix and Hydra.

Where is Pluto?  What does it look like?  Can I get a picture of it?
Well the purpose of this site is to put up pictures of Pluto, so come back often.

No , this isn't a real picture of Pluto.  When the  New Horizons spacecraft reaches Pluto in July 2015 we may have photo's like this.  Until then we will have to
make do with telescope pictures, computer renderings and artist photos.

Enjoy!
